8 Niche Items we bring to Kruger as Seasoned Visitors

Here are some things that have improved our Kruger experience:

• An insulated mug- In the morning it keeps your coffee warm and in the afternoon it keeps your drink icy so we always make sure the Stanley is packed. 

• A hot water bottle- This is for those very chilly early winter morning game drives- it makes getting out of bed in the cold and dark a bit easier when you know you’re game driving with a hot water bottle. 

• Power bank- We always encourage detaching from the outside world when you’re in Kruger but you don’t want to see an incredible sighting and have no way to take pictures because of a dead phone. 

• A buff- It keeps the wind off your face when you're in an open game drive vehicle and keeps your face and neck warm instead of packing a bulky scarf.

• UV Sun protection arm sleeves- These are great for keeping the sun off your driving arm and makes driving much more comfortable.

• Camping chairs- We always bring our own camping chairs into the park, even if we are staying at the bungalows as the wooden chairs in the park are very uncomfortable.

• Battery-operated hand fan- This is for those peak summer months when it gets uncomfortably hot

• Kruger Self-Drive Routes Roads and Ratings book by Van den Berg- This is our favourite book to use in the park. It suggests routes to drive from different camps and rates them too according to the probability of seeing predators, scenic beauty and birding opportunities.
